Stator current and rotor speed are used to demonstrate correlations between these parameters and broken rotor bar severity. Abstract

This paper introduces a novel method for motor fault detection under varying load conditions. Model based induction machine broken rotor-bar fault performances are discussed. Winding function approach (WFA) based mathematical model is developed to provide indication information regarding motor parameter evolution under the influence of load level and fault severity. Through further analysis the motor parameters evolution, broken rotor-bar fault detection indexes are developed. Moreover, these indexes can assess rotor fault severity based on stator current and rotor speed. Stator current and rotor speed are used to demonstrate correlations between these parameters and broken rotor bar severity. Simulations and experimental results confirm the validity and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
