Abstract
This chapter looks at the influence of liberal and constructivist international theories. Despite liberalism’s normative appeal and the pacifying affect of economic interdependence, it looks increasingly unsustainable. Likewise, while constructivists usefully highlight the possible importance of ideas, it is not clear that ‘good’ ideas about environmental security will necessarily prevail.
