Abstract

Single-wavelength gain-switching VCSEL based all-optical converter is demonstrated to generate RZ data with 2.5 Gbit/s bit-error-rate of 10-9 at receiving power of -29 dBm and reduced frequency chirp of 178 MHz/ps at input optical NRZ power of -21 dBm.
