An Overview Of Expert Systems And Of How They Are Developed

Abstract

Research on the applications of these. overview of the ideas using computers started in the late referred to as fifties as exemplified by the use of "expert systems , It taking into account their characteristics and hlsw they are developed and used, within the broader context of artificial intelligence and computer science. The basic structures of inferencing and control in production systems are introduced in a tutorial manner. A brief discussion of the decisions involved in building these systems includes aspects of Knowledge Engineering, classification of the problem space, and methods used to represent knowledge. Also considered is the difficult problem of verifying and validating these systems, more formal (predicate calculus) approaches, and the llshellstt and tools available to potential designers of these systems.
