Abstract

The flux focusing type double stator and single rotor (DSSR) axial flux permanent magnet motor (AFPM) has a high torque density and an inherent compact multipolar disc-type structure, which is suitable for the direct-drive in-wheel traction applications, such as electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and electric bikes and scooters etc. In this paper, the flux focusing type DSSR AFPM is analyzed using a 3D finite element analysis (FEA) method.
