From urban functions to the basic dimensions of urban systems

Abstract

Abstract: In this article we present a synthetic view of the first methods used to determine the urban functions. The critique of these methods, made fundamentally throughout the sixties, paved the way for the integration of the traditional concept of function within the more general framework of the analysis of the basic dimensions of urban systems.
