Abstract
The talk will focus on intriguing properties of asymmetrical adaptive large and medium aperture antennas. Several adaptive medium size antennas will be discussed to demonstrate their attractive potentials as primary feeds. First, an adaptive virtual array is realized in a single large aperture antenna such as a parabolic reflector. Both symmetric and offset reflector structures will be addressed. Second, the realization of frequency re-use antennas is explained through the use of adaptive matched primary feeds in asymmetrical offset reflectors. The electromagnetic requirements to attain such distinctive features will be fully explained.
