Abstract
There is a gap of knowledge in the description of the dosimetric behavior of human body when exposed in the reactive near field of VHF antennas. By a voluntary experimental campaign we aimed at extracting the significant parameters that influence the limb currents (measured at lower leg). Three frequencies in the (30-110) MHz band and two input powers were fed into a biconical dipole antenna, while two polarizations were provided. A group of 15 persons were exposed one by one at 2m distance to the source, in three different postures. Descriptive statistics was applied to separate the field-, the anthropometric- and the postural-connected dosimetric parameters. A resonant body behavior was outlined and introducing of a “coupling coefficient” between body and field was proposed. Generally, the incident field level is not a proper predictor of the limb currents.
