Abstract
Understanding the patterns of demand for emergency medical services is essential to make efficient and effective strategic and operational decisions in any Emergency Medical Services. We analyzed one year demand data for emergency response services of Rajasthan, India and a model for demand has been developed. It has been identified that the call arrival per minute follows a mixture of Poisson distribution. Moreover, the study provides insight into the distribution of calls across the districts and the distribution across various time spans of a week. Although the study does not capture the complete picture of emergency care demand in Rajasthan, it provides significant understanding on demand trends. The results will help the emergency response service providers in reducing the procedural delay and expediting the emergency care services.
