Abstract

The editors would like to acknowledge the generous funding of the Research Council of Norway for the research program on Anthropos and the Material (proj ect no. 222828), granted to the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Oslo. This wideranging research program ran three focused thematic proj ects on ritual, domestication, and labor. Knut Christian Myhre, Marianne Lien, and Christian KrohnHansen directed these themes, and many faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, and postgraduate students enriched our discussions over several years. Two heads of department, Ingjerd Hoëm and Knut G. Nustad, coordinated the more general proj ect, together with Rune Flikke, and hosted workshops in which all the contributors to this volume were able to participate at least once. The participation of Penny Harvey, John Law, Marisol de la Cadena, and Anna Tsing was supported by this wider research program and by the University of Oslo. Our meetings were supported by the administrative staff at the department, and we are particularly grateful to Nina Rundgren and Mette Kristin Stenberg.
