Congressional Reliance On And Use Of Computers

Abstract

This session will explore the evolution of information support services on Capitol Hill, with an emphasis on the utilization of information technology: computers, microforms, telecommunications, audio and video technologies. The complexities of changing legislative information needs—fulfilling chamber, committee, and constituent service requirements alike—will be discussed in the light of the benefits and limitations inherent in using such technology-supported capabilities as computers. Future options for packaging information, special dynamic display systems, and increased reliance on interactive computer and communications activities will also be discussed.
