NERC matters: What is missing from your compliance program?

Abstract

An effective compliance program is key to ensuring successful compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation reliability standards.1 However, many violations of the standards continue to occur, and compliance program deficiencies may contribute to such violations, because, for example, problem areas are not being identified and corrected promptly. Accordingly, while there has been much discussion over the years about what makes a good compliance program, truly effective programs remain elusive to many registered entities.
