Abstract
This paper deal with the local stabilization of a magnetic levitation system. The system in view is highly nonlinear, inherently unstable and contains significant uncertainty of the coil characteristics caused by the temperature variation. We propose a nonlinear polynomial model for the magnetic levitation system. This model is then used to design a nonlinear local stabilizing control law which maximizes the stability domain.
