Abstract
the objective of this paper is to propose a multi-input transformer coupled DC-DC converter for a stand-alone hybrid system consisting of PV and wind in rural areas where access to the main grid is not reliable. The locally available renewable energy sources are integrated into a system to accomplish the needs of the rural community with energy-efficient DC technology. The propound converter consist of a bidirectional buck-boost converter which harness power from the PV panel along with battery control and a transformer coupled boost half bridge converter which harness the power from the wind. The suggested architecture is more advantageous to the current stand-alone topologies as it has less component count, reduced power conversion stages and lesser losses. These characteristics enhance the efficiency and reliability of the presented scheme. MATLAB/Simulink studies are performed to acquire simulations for the different operating modes of the proposed control strategy.
