Study of Different Decoupling Techniques for TITO Time-delay System

Abstract

The controlling of Multi-Input and Multi-Output (MIMO) systems having multiple time delays is a difficult task. The classical control techniques do not produce satisfactory results, especially if significant interactions are present between inputs and outputs. This paper aims to discuss some existing decoupling methods to design decoupled controllers for 2×2 MIMO processes with multiple time delays. The controller for a 2×2 MIMO systems can be designed by effective decoupling between individual SISO loops. Different decoupling methods that are available in the literature are considered and validated on a benchmark example system. The results and conclusions are drawn based on the simulation results obtained.
