Introduction to the United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts

Abstract

Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 23 November 2005. The Convention is the first Convention on E-commerce and the most important development in the field of international commerce law in recent years. This paper firstly introduces the legislation background and aims of the convention, then analyses the main provisions of the convention. Furthermore, this paper gives some assessment on the convention.
