Abstract
We propose a new learning environment for millennial, CLEM. It is the blend of classroom teaching and secured open source web tools to reach all types of learners. CLEM gives the flexibility to the learner to choose his own way of learning. The focus of this experimental finding, (CLEM) is on the knowledge gained by the learner, giving less priority to the mode of learning. Here, classroom presence is made mandatory only for the last class of every week, but is optional for the first three, but all the learners, regardless of the mode of learning chosen, are supposed to reflect their understanding on the instructor's web portal, summarizing the content delivered on that particular day. CLEM comprises of classroom teaching and open source web tools like blogs, discussion forums and group mails/messages to deliver the course content. It aims to enhance the active guided independent learning environment. This paper presents how a better learning effect is achieved using CLEM based on the survey and analysis of students' academic performance. The paper also explores how CLEM could be used as a Web Bulletin Board.
