Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the impact of doping with Selenium atoms on the electronic and optical properties of 1T-HfS2, by using first principle calculations. Results indicate that HfS2 monolayer show its first absorption peak in the visible range of electromagnetic spectrum. It is shown that the absorption peak shifts can be tuned by the addition of Se dopants to intrinsic HfS2 monolayer. This renders this material as a potential candidate for novel optoelectronic applications in a wide portion of visible range.
