Towards an Automatic Generation of a Proverbs Bank for Neurological Studies

Abstract

Comprehension of pragmatic language implicit in proverbs involves cortical areas related with executive functions. In order to formulate a cognitive model for that process, a meaning dispersion area must be created. This area is a bank of proverbs, or sentences that can sound, behave or have the same grammatical structure than proverbs. To create the bank we have designed a semi-automatic system thatmorphologically and syntactically analyzes a corpus of Spanish sayings and generates analogous sentences that will be stimuli in neurobiological experiments in order to find out whether they trigger similar responses.
