Abstract
. In this work, was conducted a comparation between interchangeable carbide inserts regarding the tribological machining performance – in terms of useful life – and surface quality of the material submitted to milling machining process. For this purpose, were used interchangeable carbide inserts under work conditions classified as “unused” and “regrinded”, in a milling machining process carried out in a machining center. The results showed that the interchangeable carbide inserts presented a tribological performance of, approximately, 75% in relation to interchangeable carbide insert in the initial condition of “unused”. Additionally, although it has been reported an increase in the roughness of the milled surfaces, the average value of R a is within the corresponding range of values to milling mechanical processes. Thereby, it is concluded that the regrinding procedure carried out on the machining tools provided results that can be relatively considered good in terms of tribological performance – useful life and surface finish achieved – when compared to a machining tool under the initial condition of “unused”.
