The sustainability of TEFL tourism.

Abstract

Abstract This chapter provides an overview of sustainability considerations that should be taken into account by operators and academics in TEFL tourism (i.e., tourism that involves teaching English as a foreign language). The chapter discusses: TEFL as a tool for development; TEFL tourism as a tool for poverty reduction; the social, economic, and pedagogic impacts of TEFL tourism; and ethics within TEFL tourism.
