Abstract

Frequency modulated continuous wave radar is used to measure the target’s distance and velocity. This paper presents a comparison of different signal processing algorithms that improve FMCW radar detection. The algorithms are studied and validated by simulation. The radar is simulated to detect stationary targets at different considerable distances in order to prove the validity of the algorithms. Signal processing algorithms used in this paper are based on Fast Fourier Transform, windowing, zero-padding, Chirp-Z transform and Jacobsen’s frequency estimator.
