Abstract

The "ultra-fast" frequency regulation, which can be carried out e.g. by means of electrochemical storage systems, and another type of fast transient support provided by wind generators are two solutions, introduced by the Italian transmission system operator, to improve the quality of frequency regulation. This work analyzes, by means of dynamic simulations, the impact of these new control actions on the power system and their reciprocal interaction considering a future scenario of the Sardinian power system under a severe power disturbance.
