Abstract

Dedicated short range communication enables communication between vehicles, DSRC finds its application in implementing safety measures for vehicles. In order to design such radars, antennas which match the radar's technical requirements is essential. Hence, antennas which are conformal only with wide impedance bandwidth is important. A wideband conformal antenna is proposed in this paper for DSRC system. The operating frequency of the antenna is 5.6GHz with a bandwidth of 660MHz. The proposed antenna is fabricated and it is characterized. The antenna is mounted on a generic hatchback car and the return loss and radiation pattern are computed.
