Abstract
Electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was used to characterize the impedance properties of bone tissue and the relationship between these properties and bone microstructure. Therefore, the impedance properties of trabecular bone were studied based on different methods and models, including equivalent circuit model (ECM), i.e. Cole-Cole model, multivariate analysis, i.e. Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), and Effective Medium Approximation (EMA). With the latter, besides other components, especially the bone volume fraction (BV/TV) can be determined with results comparable to calculations for images from microcomputer-tomography.
