The actual modal value of 6-span mast is measured through experiments, and ANSYS analysis is used to determine stiffness value of spherical joint, so the relationship between stiffness of spherical joint and pre-tension of stay cable is concluded. Abstract

Able deployable articulated mast is a deployable support arm which has been used in the space field as the positioning or support structure on the spacecraft. Due to the long arm length and accurate position requirements, the reasonable modal value of the mast has a critical impact on its operational stability. In this paper, a 60m-long mast is taken to study the influence parameters of the first mode. Firstly, the key parameters of the mast are extracted.
