Abstract
A Health Information System (HIS) refers to a system designed to manage healthcare data. This includes systems that collect, store, manage and transmit a patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR), a hospital’s operational management, or a system supporting healthcare policy decisions. Despite the significance of HIS, the espousal rate of HIS in Malaysian public hospitals is very low, and the current implemented HIS are not integrated and have different features. After analyzing the current HIS, an Integrated Medicine Management System (IMMS) in the form of the system tool is proposed to optimize the Malaysian HIS that covers the issues, provides the centralization of data. It is based on three theories namely system, utilization, and evidence-based theory to improve the health outcome for each patient. It can help to improve the performance of the practitioner as it shows an evidence-based alert on the prescriber’s screen if there is an issue with the medicine.
