Educação Ambiental e a implementação do Projeto Precious Plastic Instei

Abstract

In view of the growing concern about the correct disposal of plastic waste it was included in the school INSTEI, the environmental education project of plastic recycling workshop following the Precious Plastic project guidelines. Firstly, with the students and the college’s academic community collaboration, a joint effort was set to collect bottle caps, totaling 47,5 kg of bottle caps collected. The students were then instructed on how to operate the shredder and plastic injection molding machine built for project development. Part of the material collected was recycled by the students, totaling the production of 20 hexagonal tiles and the recycling of approximately 1,5 kg of plastic equivalent to approximately 820 bottle caps. In order to explore the project was also performed the calculation of the amount of energy consumed in the process for the manufacture of each tile.
