HISTORICAL AND POLITICAL ASPECTS OF THE FORMATION OF THE UKRAINIAN-POLISH BORDER

Abstract

The article deals with the historical aspects of the formation of the Ukrainian-Polish state border. The main normative and legal documents concerning the definition of the border line and their political consequences are analyzed. The dy- namics of border changes after two World Wars and in the interwar period is investigated. It is noted that the final line of the Ukrainian-Polish state border as a section between the Polish and Soviet frontier was determined after the World War II, without taking into account the limits of ethnic settlement of Ukrainians. After the proclamation of Ukraine's independence in 1991, the parties did not declare any territorial claims to each other.
