Abstract

This paper describes the system structure for accommodating storage networking service in optical access system and the method of communication processing for providing through-connection between optical access system and iSCSI (Internet Small Computer Systems Interface) subscriber. The basic idea to implement the system is to use existing gigabit Ethernet technology products currently in service, and to develop a new iSCSI interworking part. We focused our attention on how the commonality of hardware and software architecture among different types of interworking units could be accomplished. The proposed concept of storage interworking architecture will provide flexibility to accommodate with storage networking service.
