Abstract

A new mathematical model of pulse width modulation (PWM) process is developed to attain behavioral nonlinear simulation of switch-mode power converters. Applying the Laplace transformation and Heaviside unitary pulse function, a nonlinear mathematical model of the PWM pulses is achieved. This mathematical model, which leads to a nonlinear Simulink simulation model, validated against perturbations and employed to obtain different PWM techniques and employed to facilitate the simulation of DC-to-DC converters and VSI.
