Abstract
The electromagnetic impulse noise with the infinitesimal duration and the Gaussian amplitude distribution can be treated as the white Gaussian noise in spite of its sparse appearance. Under the existence of the impulse noise the correlation de tector for the known-waveform signal is optimized by the waveform matching: the optimized detector is the synchronous matched filter. The matched filter is simply explained in the spectral domain of the orthogonal functions such as the Walsh functions and the sinusoidal functions and is realized by the orthogonal transform pro cessor, to be applied to the signal measurement and the data transmission. The matched filter through the. Walsh waveform analyzer is effectively applied to the signal mea surement of the photoelectric pulse signals. It is shown that the orthogonal matched filters in the data transmission system based on the ortho gonal transform can suppress the power of the addi tive impulse noise due to time-averaging.
