Abstract

Voltage dividers used for high-voltage switching impulse measurements have always more or less distorted response and their design is challenging. Improving the performance of an existing divider by hardware can be very difficult because the main design principles or used components cannot be changed. Software corrections for improving the performance of impulse dividers are therefore very tempting. This paper describes two different methods to apply software corrections to the output of the voltage divider. Corrections are based on measured properties of the used dividers and the validity of the corrections can be verified with a calibrator or by a comparison. Both corrections improved the divider performance up to reference level.
