The proposed antenna yields return loss of -10 dB, which covers the bandwidth specification of WiMAX and WLAN. Abstract

In this paper, a U-Shaped Coplanar waveguide fed antenna with modified ground plane structure for worldwide interoperability for microwave access and wireless local area network applications is presented. The antenna is resonating at three different frequencies 3.7/5.5/7.3 GHz which covers the operating frequency range of WiMAX, WLAN. The antenna has simple planar structure of dimensions 23× 16× 0.8 mm3, using FR4 epoxy substrate of dielectric constant 4.4 and loss tangent of 0.002 with a slot on ground plane.
