An architecture for collaboration in virtual environments

Abstract

We introduce an architecture for performing closely-coupled collaborative tasks in virtual environments. Our architecture consists of an application-layer model based on higher-level user interactions with shared objects, and a communication protocol for dissemination of collaborative update messages among participants.
