Abstract

A smart grid is an efficient and reliable means of power delivery to the end user that integrates various communication systems. The role of communication in a smart grid is crucial. The smart grid can be considered as an evolved modern grid having high reliability, efficiency and two-way communications between end users and the utility. It consists of proper communication devices which serve both utility and the end user. Moreover, it gives the opportunity for large scale integration of renewable energy, electric vehicles, and various other products and services. It combines digital intelligence, communication and advanced metering solution deployment in devices and services.
