Abstract

In recent years, with the global energy shortage problem increasingly prominent, multilevel level converter has attracted many researchers' interest. Bosh NPC, MMC has advantages and disadvantages. A new multilevel converter topology which is connected with MMC and NPC is presented in this paper. For the rectifier side, we choose the MMC topology because of its low harmonic content, the advantage of high power factor, etc. For the inverter side we choose the NPC topology considering that the three-level NPC inverter is widely used in the field of motor drive. The control strategies of both sides are detailed present. At last, simulations and experimental results demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed control strategies.
