Report on the International Stage Movement Institute

Abstract

During the summer of 1971, a unique group of movement exponents gathered on the campus of Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, for an eight week Institute. In searching for a more effective approach, the Institute concentrated on movement expression and sound-voice production techniques. According to Dr. Jack Clay, these are inseparably inter-related and cannot be considered in teaching as separate entities. He selected from the various new formulations on training techniques, therefore, those inventive methods currently evolving and made this information available to an interested group of people, who like himself, sought satisfactory ways to plumb the physical and psychical body 6f the actor for deeper insights into the human condition.
