Abstract

This section of the book titled Practical Materia Medica of the Medieval Eastern Mediterranean According to the Cairo Genizah presents some illustrations on letter from Maimonides to his disciple Tobias with a recipe for his headache. It shows the fragment of a notebook on dentistry, the Fragment identified as a part of Ibn al-Bayan's al-Dustur al-bimaristani. The section also shows the pictures of fruits of cardamom, jujube, peony, pepper and perfumed cherry and the images of the medicinal leaves, flowers and plants like camphor, bark of cinnamon and roots of spikenard.Keywords:Cairo Genizah; medicinal plants; medieval Eastern Mediterranean
