Two and three dimensional images of shallow geological structures

Abstract

The purposes of imaging are to gain some understanding of what a ground probing radar (GPR) image would look like, to facilitate interpretation and to test signal and image processing techniques. An interesting structure is the buried valley aquifer due to its potential for storing groundwater. This is investigated by simulation using ray tracing for two dimensional images and facet modelling for three dimensional images.
