Abstract
The catalytic pyrolysis of biomass in fixed bed reactor using calcium-based catalysts had been studied in fixed bed reactor. The objective of this study was to determine the influence of parameters on pyrolysis product and to determine the potential of calcium-based catalysts in pyrolysis of palm shell. The results were obtained with various temperature, biomass size and catalyst ratio. The maximum bio oil from this study were at the temperature of 500 °C, biomass size of 425 µm and percentages catalyst ratio of 20%. In this study the use of Cryptomya Elliptica as a calcium-based catalyst produced the highest amount of bio oil yield of 32.71%.
