Quality Assurance in Manufacturing Industry-A Study on Link Locks Private Limited, Aligarh

Abstract

Quality of a product is considered as one of the major factors that affect sales & profit of firm, satisfaction of customer and good-will development of a company. The definition of the word ‘Quality’ is highly subjective in nature. For a manufacturer quality may be the adherence of the product to pre-determined specifications while for a customer it may be fulfillment of his expectation by the product. This research aims to identify and analyze the different quality assurance initiative taken in manufacturing industry by studying the quality assurance process in Link Locks Pvt. Ltd. which is a leading lock manufacturing company in India. There are various initiatives taken by Link Locks Pvt. Ltd. to assure quality in the locks manufactured. These initiatives are ISO guidelines, inspection, quality circles, Knoop hardness testing, total quality management, statistical process control and breaking strength indexing.
