Because of resonant switching in the SEPIC part it was possible to improve the efficiency calculated for one mains period in relationship to standard converter types. As a result the thermal problems can be minimized and the mechanical dimensions optimized. Due to this converter structure and the switching technology, despite the very high switching frequency, this converter is an ideal application area for IGBT. Abstract
