Abstract
We study laser desorption into an adiabatically expanding atom beam as a promising technique to volatilize an ensemble of cold biomolecules. Samples under investigation are the amino acid Tryptophan and the polypeptide Gramicidin. We discuss the possibilities of such beams for applications with respect to matter wave interferometry.
