Introduction to solid-state adjustable speed drives

Abstract

The author give an overview of AC and DC drive theory, operation, and proper applications. He covers three areas that are basic to understanding these devices: (1) fundamentals of variable-speed controls; (2) adjustable-speed drive applications; and (3) power system disturbances and solid-state drives. Factors that must be considered for the successful implementation of solid-state drives to improve quality or reduce process cost are presented.<>
