Abstract

This paper presents the experimental studies on speed bump estimation on the road by a vehicle motion simulator equipped with motion sensors. Since the camera and the Lidar sensors are expensive and have limitation on certain weather conditions, the vehicle motion is indirectly used to estimate the height of a speed bump. The vehicle motion data are captured by sensors such as a gyro sensor and a height sensor of car and the speed bump is estimated. Experimental studies of speed bump estimation with a motion simulator are performed to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.
