Emerging trends in electricity market in India — A review

Abstract

Evolving concept of smart electric grid results the grid operation efficient, intelligent and secure across all aspects of the electricity value chain-from generation to consumer. This paper first briefly presents the overview of Indian power sector followed by general framework of smart grid. The major benefits and key challenges to implementing smart grid in India are discussed. This paper also covers smart grid initiatives and implementations in the context of power sector evolution in India.
