Is the science of religions possible in present day Russia?

Abstract

Abstract Nowadays it is fashionable to attack the science of religions. Members of the clergy object that it is little more than ‘scientific atheism’, and advise that no instruction in the subject be offered when courses in theology are available. Self-styled agnostics, on the other hand (who actually have a tendency to confuse science of religions with theology), argue that no religious instruction whatsoever should be given at secular educational establishments.
