Abstract

Many people see a need for improvement and pick a tool to fix it —be it Lean, BPR, or the like. That, in itself, is not a wrong approach, and can reap benefits (inner layer). What is meant by Operational Excellence? Will it help provide the real sustainable competitive advantage necessary to succeed in today’s ever challenging business environment? How can I ensure success? Are there alternatives? When is the right time to stop focusing on improvements and start focusing on innovation?
