Abstract

In this article, the design of an ultra-wideband (UWB) microstrip patch antenna is presented, analyzed and manufactured. The antenna consists of modified circular-shaped patch antenna and semicircular finite ground plane. The UWB is achieved by introducing a staircase shaped slot to the radiating element and a rectangular slot to the ground plane. The proposed antenna has a small size of 23×28 mm2 and operates over the frequency band between 3.0–14.6 GHz.
